The ADMA teaches oral sedation protocols that go beyond traditional dental practices to encompass the most up-to-date methods practiced in the dental community. Our hands-on simulations involving common emergencies and airway management will assure that you are providing the safest, highest quality sedation care possible to your dental patients.
Courses are held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Traditional and new oral sedation protocols are taught by field experts. Pharmacology, physiology, airway management, and patient screening are heavily emphasized in the core curriculum. In addition to interactive didactics, simulated case scenarios develop a safe, knowledgeable, and confident client. Our training manual is derived from the University of Washington School of Medicine Anesthesia training program. We have designed a unique training model that ensures a low client to instructor ratio and is comprised of interactive didactics and simulated case scenarios. Our clients receive the highest quality of sedation training offered in the industry. Our training approach ensures the development of a safer, more knowledgeable, and more confident sedation dentist.
PLEASE NOTE*** for certification you must attend ALL three days Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
If you’re seeking CE credit only you can attend Saturday and Sunday.

Cory Pickens, MD, attended and graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2000. He accepted an anesthesia residency training position
with a fellowship position in neuro – anesthesia from the University
of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and graduated in 2004. Doctor Pickens hospital based work included a 6-year Neuro Anesthesia Chairmanship at SVH and 15 years of Trauma and Emergency Anesthesia coverage at level 1 and 2 trauma centers. As an associate professor for RMC Dr. Pickens began actively sedating for
dental offices while studying dental sedation outpatient protocols. He created office based double jaw advancement anesthesia protocols with Dr. Clark Taylor. During his dental sedation studies and practice, he developed new oral conscious sedation combination protocols and improved pediatric sedation protocols that are now used nationwide. As Dr. Pickens identified large gaps in the dental and medical sedation
communities, he formed the Academy of Dental and Medical Anesthesia to improve dental sedation nationwide. His ultimate goal is to protect the autonomy of a dentist to sedate while advancing dental sedation training.
